Set back from a three-treed triangular green with a charming thatched roof, this isn't quite chocolate box-like, but it's quaint, and one you'd take a Trans-Atlantic friend to as an example of a traditional British village pub. The interior is small with an entrance-facing bar, tiny dining area to the left and a few tables in front of the bar and to the right. It's a Fuller's pub, so a three ale Chiswick-flavoured line-up of London Pride, Oliver's Island and Gale's Seafarers with a fourth stump unclipped. The Gale's was in good shape and a reasonable £3.60 for a pint's worth. The bar was surrounded by locals of the friendly variety, although with the weather being clement I chose to sit on one of the benches out front. If Fuller's beers are your thing, this is worth a visit if you're in the area, and the excellent XT brewery and its tap, The Eight Bells are both around a mile away if you fancy something a bit more local.
