fantastic little pub, serving good food. good live entertainment on a Saturday night. excellent sunday carvery with all fresh veg and good choice of meat
nice little beer garden at the rear and a good sized car park.
land lord and lady give everyone a warm welcome. this pub has a warm, friendly atmosphere. there is a good selection of beers, including 2 cask beers, very nice

hi
I am the new landlord carl, along with my wife Janice.
we took over this pub on 23 july 2015.
According to our regulars, we are doing a great job in turning this pub around to how it used to be years ago.
we serve food, some home made especially our home made chips, they go down well. sorry but we no longer do the 10% off meals card that was set up by old tennents.
we have two cask ales on at all times, live entertainment every Saturday night, karaoke the first Friday of every month, bingo every Wednesday starting at 7pm, everyone welcome.
we have a darts and dominos team along with pool team, you are welcome to come and join.
I have revamped the beer garden at the rear and is now a pleasant place to have a cold beer in the summer

Awful pub, food is bad and staff are unfriendly made my son ill. Please do avoid at all costs! I am appalled by such lack of craftsman ship for such a lovely looking pub.

I loved this bar when i visited my ex's parents who just stayed across the road, i was there for a week and i was in there everyday, its an odd shaped bar but staff were wonderful and made me feel very welcome, it has a bandit and sky telly and you only had to ask and it was on, pints were probably the best pints ive ever had, wasnt a very busy bar but had character, hadnt been decorated in years but thats what i loved about it, i doubt i will find a more welcome than this fantastic bar, also has pool and darts board, if in that are i will pop in for a pint or 20 again. 10 out of 10 all the way

This expanded small town local's pub sits on the main road between Skelmersdale and Wigan. We visited in conjunction with the nearby Victoria and it is safe to say that the Stanley is by far the better option. The interior is nothing pretentious or flashy but then it is hardly geared at tourists or journeymen. Getting seated on a Saturday night was no problem although there was a healthy mix of people in there and a fairly genial atmosphere. The front of the pub contains a large tiled floor pool room to one side with the rest of the pub being fairly plain and mundane décor wise with a collection of bottles and tankards on the high shelves being the only real focal point. Just the 1 hand pump but a pretty decent Thwaites Lancaster Bomber was enough to keep me happy for my brief stay. Unobtrusive music and a small fairly basic TV which suggests it is more of a meeting and talking pub than anything brash. There is a covered BBQ patio at the rear and decent sized car park. If there is any need to stop in Upholland, the Stanley is worth a quick pint but, whilst it serves its purpose for the local community, there isn't too much for the wordly traveler to get too excited about.
