I popped into the White Lion just after 19:00 on a recent Monday to find the locals murdering some songs on the karaoke machine. The standard keg lined bar in the left rear corner faces seating to the left of the entrance and there are raised seating areas in the right front and rear, the latter of which was supporting the karaoke. Plasma screens for showing Sky Sports are located throughout, as are lots of anti-drug posters. This is a basic boozer that I will leave to the local’s when next in town.

Surprisingly this was quite fun on this afternoon visit. Loads of old blokes telling interesting stories before they fell asleep. Its not the best inside and its standard beer but it was ok.

walked in couldn't believe my eyes got ex landlady from eagle behind bar people whispering at bar she wants to take over the pub still her friends from eagle were there bitter bit better than before toilets need sorting very bad atmosphere loads of customers worst for drink

while since I called in here just got in door guy from eagle asked if I wanted go on football card how the landlord in this pub allows guys to take card round for themselves beer ok landlord friendly enough bit quite seems like few guys that were in all from spread eagle no entertainment on will call in at weekend

what has happened to this pub went in Saturday the dj was running bout with boxing gloves then went playing music to a few people the language was fowl not even funny music was from don't know were watched couples walk in then straight out as they got bad mouthed by a guy who don't think knew how to play music had 3/4 of my pint left just left it and walked out

What a dissapointment the white lion is from a clean quiet pub to a scruffy one, all in a matter of years, and what about GED Karaoke, worst one I,ve come across

this pub is cheap newly refurbished was good pub when first opened good music from irish or scottish guy on karaoke he catered for all ages landlady very boring spent most of her time talking to her own little cleek round bar or was outside smoking believe she has left thank god as her attitude was wrong with most of the customers believe it was her first pub in rochdale no doubt it will be her last was in last week disco was crap not suited for the kind of clientel for that pub hope it goes back to music when it first opened a nice pub spoiled by last landlady and music it is now playing in pub

This pub now has now reopened with a brand new landlord and landlady. I called in recently and the music was blasting out playing to a crowd of about six who were leaning on the bar totally uninterested in the music but having to shout to be heard when talking to someone 2 feet away. I’m not sure that this is what is needed here. The pub is a one roomed affair with a couple of separate raised areas. It always used to do well on the food side with the shoppers but I don’t know what they are doing food wise at the moment. It’s a pleasant enough looking pub but the music destroys it. There are 2 handpumps on the bar but no real stuff on, it’s probably going to be closed again soon, there’s just no reason to go in at the moment.
