ROB Camra left this review about The Healey

We've been in here many times since my last review in 2014, so it's about time I reviewed it again.

Sadly, due to Robinsons being complete numpties, the guest ales have now been removed, the barrelage of Robbie's beers sold has hardly increased, so it's just lost custom.

Fairly busy yesterday afternoon with the tables in the marquee over the boules piste, the open terrace and the 4 walk-in tables in the garden all being taken at least once during the afternoon.

We managed to spend 4.5 hours here (doesn't time fly......) and had to move tables as our allotted time had run out. Robinsons Unicorn and Dizzy on the bar on cask with a Siren beer and a Lagunitas beer on keg. I tried them all and Ms CAMRA had cider and red wine. The food was good value as well.

We're booked in for drinks on Saturday night as well, when I suspect it will be freezing.

Now fully refurbished and extended into the cottage next door. Very busy during food service times it calms down at around 10 p.m when it becomes a drinkers pub.

Mark moved on a while ago and the beer has improved under the more hands-on approach taken by the owners since his departure. The pub is now allowed to sell guest ales, so there are usually 2 available. One is usually from Titanic with the other from an ever changing brewery. The pub will be closing soon for a major refurbishment which will include a new conservatory.

This pub is now under the same ownership as the award winning Baum. New manager Mark (ex Phoenix brewery) has been in place for over a year now. It's still a Robinson's pub as it's a tied house, but the pub now has 5 handpumps selling Unicorn on 2 of them alongside 2 ever changing beers from the Robbies portfolio and Westons real cider. The beers are better kept than under the previous management, but Robbies beers really aren't to my taste. There's one main room with a good looking bar. There's a large room to the right with photos of the surrounding area on the walls and another smaller snug. There's also a boules piste out the back and a decent sized garden at the side. We called in for a couple on Sunday. The Unicorn was very good, but the Dark Hatters was only OK. It's a decent enough pub with a good bunch of regulars.
