Well well well! This place has had a major transformation and is unrecognizable from its days as a locals boozer. It is now a very upmarket bar, with only table service (sir looked very uncouth going to the bar). The sheer amount of internal rejigging and structural alteration must have cost a fortune, though to be fair the effect is quite impressive. No ale available, the choice at the bar was between BrewDog Punk IPA and Peroni (expensive, natch). Doubt I’d feel the need to look in here again now this has happened but I’m sure the moneyed (or wannabes) in Wokingham will keep it ticking over – it was impressively busy for a Friday afternoon.

Wandered past yesterday to see all the pumps unclipped so passed up the opportunity to re-acquaint myself!

Locals pub down a side street, split into two rooms. On the right hand side lies the public bar AKA the events room (TV footy, live music), which is a bit shabby and soulless when empty; on the left is the lounge room which is a mid-80's time-warp décor-wise. There's a selection of books to read, though to be honest I'm not sure the average punter would want to read much Clare Rayner? One ale, Morland Original, cheap at 2.40 for the area and tastes fine usually. Fairly unremarkable and lacks any real selling point to make me go in now I've stopped working in the town. Rating 4

A two bar backstreet locals pub, two out of three beers were on in this Greene King pub,Morland Original Bitter and Old Speckled Hen, with a reversed GK Reserve IPA clip.It was reasonably attended on a Sunday afternoon,I wasn't keen on the beer but not the worse pub in town.
