A big Stonegate place opposite the station, in typical modern designer style but much in need of a refresh. The place is dominated by a horrible green scumbled face to the long bar counter, amongst the other bright colours and sports screens scattered about. One end has a dining area, with pool and darts at the other, while outside are a batch of drinking huts. Just Doom Bar (admittedly in good condition) on handpump but with a few keg craft from the likes of Siren and Tiny Rebel. Handy if waiting for a train but wouldn't bother otherwise.

Yet another refurb, now feels like a quasi-Brewdog. A very 'ladz on the weekend large' feel (it was only Thursday) and the solitary cask of Doom Bar and not much else of interest meant I decided to give my liver a pass and head to the station and spend the 5 minutes on the platform instead.

flying visit here before the train, and a real surprise. The place has been done-out (again!) but looks pretty decent. Three ales on the bar, and my Windsor & Eton ale was in super condition. One to keep an eye on. Rated 6

Another makeover and is now a Kings Feast branded outlet. The refurbishment is quite well done to be fair and the large, open plan interior looks more welcoming than it did a few years back. Three pumps but just Pride on, served through a tight sparkler. It came out in decent shape though so there was obviously a very good pint in there. The loud piped muzak felt sad - aimed at a weekend crowd that weren't here on a Monday (I was the only punter!). Two pool tables and muted darts on the telly. The advertised free Wi-Fi was a laborious sign up that then refused to connect. The MM is clearly aimed at the weekend youngsters and Sunday family eaters so not really a destination for drinkers. But it could be worse (and has been!). Rated 5

Has now had a thorough makeover and looks better for it both inside and out, now a bit more friendly for a quiet drink during the day - in fact I'd go as far to say it's quite tasteful. Popped in to see if there was an ale on and was surprised to find that there was - a decent half of a GK beer (Dallaglio's Heroes) at an OK price for Wokingham. Shame the staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves to provide any decent level of service. Food was available and there was a big screen with the cricket on (muted in favour of music). The large outdoor decked area is a sun-trap and a pleasant place to sup. Perhaps now worth a quick look if you're waiting for a train if you've tried everywhere else nearby. Rated 6

Has had a bit of a clean-up inside and looks better for it, but sadly still doesn't offer anything of interest to a beer drinker, not even in a bottle. Rated 4

For sporting events only. Don't bother otherwise, there are so many other pubs in Wokingham. No real ale and has a bit of a reputation for lairy behaviour. Rated 3

Lives up to its name next to the station. Staple shaped interior serving 3 real ales from the 4 taps during my visit.

Close to the station, its a cheap menu boring beer type of place, beers on from five pumps, Sharps Atlantic and Hogs Back Advent Ale.
