Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Dog & Partridge
Fairly basic city-centre pub, with the 'To Let' signage hardly inspiring confidence. However, it was doing reasonable business on a Thursday evening. Anonymous, semi-modern L-shaped interior. A couple of real ales were available, a stale Wainwright Amber that was quickly changed for a reasonable pint of Landlord (£3.60) with no problem.

Has reopened and is now trying to focus on being a rock pub again. the real ale selection is still national standards and the interior lacks character. but at least it's back open.

This was a fairly decent pub. It seems to be a popular music venue with a lot of adverts for forthcoming bands dotted around. There may be another room but I only saw one. This was a fairly standard room with lots of open floor space. The bar had 5 handpumps on but only 3 were dispensing beers. Not the most interesting of ales on on my visit but I was assured that there's a better selection at weekends.

One of several good drinkers pubs in this part of town, the Dog & Partridge has six hand pumps. There's a cider on one, and the beers available on my recent visit included the rarely seen Tetleys Dark Mild, which was good. Others were from Springhead and Holts, but the Timothy Taylor Landlord had gone off and the Three Bs Happy New Beer was also taken off after a customer complained about it.
This is a simple boozer, with brass-railed bar, tiled floor, ordinary tables and chairs and a pool table in the room to the right of the bar. The wood panelled wall to the left features a collection of regimental shields. One to include in a local crawl, or just a quick visit in its own right - it's a short walk from the station.
