Slightly out of the centre and painted a pretty grim blueish grey colour. Much better within though, quite a classy interior – a two room layout with a tidy wood plank rear section and kept in good order. Five genuine guest ales, our 2x different Coach House beers both came out well (NBSS 3.5). Poulton’s a fairly upmarket town and I suppose this Spoons has to keep its standards a bit better than their usual norm. GBG’23 listed.

The main feature here was the open plan front seating area, with the rest of the pub at ground level, apart from the upstairs toilets and a glass fronted storage area, which looked liked a first floor lounge area. The décor was cream and dark grey painted walls, with all the columns cladded in rustic looking pine timber. Two banks of five pumps serving three permanent ales, Abbott, Ruddles and Doombore. Seven guest ales, so we went for the Bradfield Farmers Blonde, which was in excellent condition and priced at £2.29 a pint.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Poulton Elk (JD Wetherspoon)

Quite a recent 'spoons, converted from a nightclub, that initially looks quite open when you enter the two-storey front section, but going further back the lower ceiling feels a bit oppressive. Small patio terrace out front. Reasonable selection of seven real ales from the two banks of handpumps, but my attention was drawn to the Reedley Hallows Pendleside (£2.29).

The Poulton Elk is named after the skeleton of a deer that it is thought was drowned nearby after being attacked by a gang of Stone Age thugs around 13,500 years ago. On my Wednesday evening visit nearly everyone was eating but venison wasn't on the menu. It's a conversion of a night club that has only been open since the tail end of 2013 and consists of a wide room with the bar at the rear, ceiling lights and some mounted elks on the walls. The beer choice wasn't brilliant but I've seen worse. The ten hand pumps had the JDW Trio Of Doom, one unused, two available soon, Cross Bay Sunshine, Lytham Dingo Blond, Phoenix White Monk and Caledonian Edinburgh Castle. I went for the Cross Bay beer (£2.55) and the price explains why everyone was dining. This wouldn't be a cheap JDW even in the London suburbs but in here the beer prices are less than 50p a pint lower than "normal" pubs so it's not really making a serious attempt at attracting local beer drinkers.
I did try the Chicken Club here and it was excellent but wouldn't return for a beer unless I was actually passing by.

A large barn-like Wether's. Usual beer stuff. Seating out front. Its not too bad actually. One of the more empty Wether's I've been in.

I visited Poulton-Le-Fylde on a Tuesday 22/07/2014 and I found that due to local licensing laws all places that sell alcohol on that day & date only were closed.
