I think I probably only came in here once or twice when I was in Morecambe in 1975, but I agree with Peter (below) that the bar then was not where it is now. I'll bet there were more internal walls, too; but that's a pretty safe bet with must pubs of this age, isn't it. That said, it was not unpleasant, and my brother liked it so much that he wanted to have another before going to the match. I think he liked the barmaid more than the pub, actually, but he readily agreed to call in again after the game instead. Sadly, she'd gone off duty by then.

Three beers on, Doom Bar and two from local breweries, one of which had changed when we came back later. All four beers tried were in good condition, though I ended up with Doom Bar on the return visit, which wasn't a patch on the Cross Bay beer from earlier. Some of the customers were friendly and talkative, so it was quite a good experience for us. Drawing 0-0 was less good, but we didn't let that spoil our evening. (There's a good walking route to the ground along Out Moss Lane, so I can recommend this one for a pre- or post-match beer. Also a friend of mine from Luton was staying at the pub and only paid £20 for his room.) Like a couple of other pubs on this Tuesday evening, we paid £2.22 for two halves - I don't know how that happens. It's cheap, don't complain!

Exactly the same beers on as Eighteen 66! Equally well done out also. Bar to right, pool table to left and various TVs.

Since moving the British Legion to the York Hotel we are now the Headquarters for the Morecambe and Heysham Branch.
The York provides everything we need as a branch, excellent food, quality beer and first class meeting facilities. Those members who have stayed at the York in the newly refurbished rooms have nothing but praise for the place - the best breakfast in Morecambe. The York is also the HQ for the Aden Veterans Association, meeting every two months.
