Another traditional workingmans local. I used to play darts for a nearby team, so I used to visit here to play darts a couple of times a year, however that was 30 years ago. The bar is to the left now as you enter, it used to be a horseshoe shaped one which faced you as you entered. There's still a dartboard in a rear room, but the match board is hidden behind a mirror in the main room. There's an area with a pool table at the side of the bar and a small lounge area to the right. There's also a quiz machine which very kindly coughed up £4 when I played it ,which more than paid for my pint of Guinness. There's no cask ale here, just keg I'm afraid. The locals were friendly enough and I'd happily call in again for one when passing, but the lack of real ale will stop me visiting regularly.

A managed free house owned by a small independant company. At first glance admittedly, the exterior could do with a bit of a spruce up, but these days with the pub trade going the way it is money is tight.

However put this aside and step inside and you'll find a pleasant comfortable interior that is well kept and clean. A warm friendly welcome awaits from hosts Tony, Yvette & Staff.

Locals are much the same it's one of those rare local community pubs that if it's your first visit there you are not made to feel as if you're some kind of freak in a circus side show. (Unless of course you actually are one.)You could walk in for the first time and leave a couple of hours later feeling that you've known everybody all your life.

The beers are all top brands eg Carling, Carlsberg, Guinness, Tetleys, Worthingtons and they do not stock cheap unbranded spirits what it says on the bottle is what you get in your glass.

Excluding the Sam Smiths and Wetherspoons chains it's the cheapest for miles and gets even cheaper when there's an advertised football match on which they have access to a lot of.

Weekends are packed with entertainment in the shape of karaoke nights and afternoons and the occasional band or singer and for all you Las Vegas hopefuls they also have poker nights twice a week. You don't even need to worry if you're a novice, the lads that play there are willing and patient tutors.

This house deserves not to be one of the next pub casualties you can help ensure this doesn't happen

Remember the old adage: Use It Or Lose It.

Give it a shot you won't be dissapointed.
