Will Larter left this review about Greaves Hotel

I worked here for a few months in 1978. It was a Mitchell's pub, the bitter served via an electric pump, with a diaphragm inside a perspex cube, and poured into oversized 24 ounce glasses. The bar was to the right of the entrance hall, with I think a dining room on the left. There was a concert room behind, with its own bar, and I used to work there until quite late on a Sunday night, when a local band calling themselves the JK Muppet Show would do old R&R or MOR covers, with willing victims plucked from the audience to sing the same numbers week after week. If I ever hear Rhinestone Cowboy or Cut Across Shorty, it takes me straight back to the Greaves in the summer of '78. The old building has now been repurposed as accommodation, blending the old with a new building alongside in the best of taste, if I suspend for a moment my regret at another pub biting the dust.
