A random stop-off as we were outside. Pretty much the same as before, though there was just one on, a listless Windsor & Eton Guardsman. Probably give it a swerve next time.

As mentioned below, it’s a long narrow pub. A bit dark inside, modern décor verging on the trendy. Football on a small screen behind the bar and a large screen to the rear switched off. Two pumps, with Brakspear Ordinary and Doom Bar on. The Brakspear was in decent shape and surprisingly reasonable at £1.75 a half. Gas effect hearth fire which was fairly convincing and only the discreet black feeder pipe gave it away. WiFi and daily papers noted. Over-loud music for midday, more suited to a Yates at 8pm. I retreated to the decked area at the rear which also houses a summer bar/BBQ shack. A solid if perhaps unremarkable place that nonetheless is worth taking in for the novelty of having a Brakspear in decent condition and reasonably priced. Rated 6

Here's an interesting pub, with a fair bit of history attached. (Check out the real stocks on the pavement 50 yards away - that's real history for you)! Walking distance from Windsor town centre, this is a good pub to include in your Windsor (central) crawl. The pub is always empty when I visit, so getting served is not a problem! I've not been at weekends, and the landlord (a CFC fan) assures me it CAN get quite busy at weekends. They do show sport on the telly here (if its normal terrestrial channels). It's a long thin pub, with a long bar, going back to a small outside 'yard' bit at the back (if you want a few rays of sunshine)! Eton is certainly an unusual place. Wander a couple of hundred yards further down the street towards Eton centre, and you could have stepped back in time 150 years...!! TJ

Has changed its name to Henry VI. Modern pub with a dark interior. Sells real ale.
