Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Crown

The orange exterior of this pub is certainly quite gaudy. The interior could best be described as rowdy.

Locals were packing around the bar. The barman and barmaid appeared to be Irish and were leading the banter. The barmaid was inviting one of the locals to "stick it in", stating that she rarely invites a man to do this. She was actually talking about the card machine.

The solitary real ale was Bowland Boxer Blonde, which I decided to do without. The table we sat at had a half eaten sausage roll on it, alongside the remains of a pint of lager. The 3 ladies opposite had about 9 pints of lager on their table, alongside other bottled drinks. It's certainly a heavy drinkers' pub.

The walls are decorated in some strange colours. We sat in a corner with black and white stripes, which signify the town's football team. TVs were showing live horse racing, but nobody seemed to care.

Entertaining, but not really a place I would happily return to.

Brainy Pool left this review about The Crown

a very orange corner pub which is painted in various other ugly colours inside. It’s like being in the living room of someone with no taste at all. Expect a Slaughtered Lamb style welcome in here, especially if you’re younger than 40. A local codgers local. The mild was nice though.

Aqualung . left this review about The Crown

The Crown is a corner pub that has been given a full modernisation in recent years. Inside it's a roughly square open plan room with a few areas off it. There was some rather loud and dull music playing. Live music was advertised for Saturday night.
I only counted four hand pumps which had Kirkby Lonsdale Stanley's Pale, Fuzzy Duck Mucky Duck & Cunning Stunt and Black Dragon Cider. I wasn't prepared for this to be my James Naughtie moment so pointed at the Cunning Stunt hand pump and asked the friendly landlady for a "pint of that" (£2.80) and it was in good nick.
Despite the music this was a pleasant enough place. It's GBG 2017 listed.

Town centre pub. A main are with 2 snugs on either side as you enter from the high street. 5 real ales available from local breweries. A pleasant friendly pub.
