The House Without A name is in the village of Bradshaw,a few miles from Bolton and is in the middle of a row of small houses and was originally two cottages that were joined together in the early 1830's.The pub was named (or in this case not named)when the first publican applied for his licence, and when asked "What is the name of the house"he replied by saying "it has no name"so from then on it has been known as The House Without A Name for the past 100 years,
On entering the pub,to the left is the vault and ahead through the main door is the lounge which has an area of flagged floor and an open fire. There had 6 cask hand pumps on the go, with 3 permanent beers, and 3 guest ales which are rotated on a weekly basis, which on my recent Thursday lunchtime visit included Doom Bar,Landlord and Flat Cap.
The pub opens 12-12 and 12-1am Fri and Sat with live entertainment on a regular basis
Any male customers of a more rotund frame wishing to take a leek might find the entrance door to the Gents a tad narrow.
Worth a visit.
