An excellent pub situated perfectly close to the train station. Not necessarily a pub for a quick pint, given the choice of ales here it is not a bad place to stay for a full session. This is a popular spot for watching sport, mostly Football or Rugby. This remains probably the best pub in Reading.

A very handy location in the old Reading station building and right next door to the current entrance. A very handy large pub to visit if you have 20 minutes or more awaiting your connecting train especially if you are after a good range of ales. Can be busy when there is a football match on in Reading but sometimes we have been there on such days and its been quiet even after the match has ended. The only down side is that they have to serve you in plastic glasses on match days.
Not quite sure how this place fits in to the big redevelopment of the station though.

Adjacent to reading train station. 8 real ales on & food served. Advertising live music. Rugby and railway memorabilia on the walls. Display screens showing train times. Certainly does the job if waiting on a connection.

Excellent ale selection and the place itself is great. However the toilets are horrific, so have to drop points.

Very handy if you have a bit of a wait for a connecting train. Has a good slelection of ales on but can get very busy when there is a big match on the TV screens or Reading are playing at home.

Situated right next to Reading Station (the fire exit from the bar opens onto the platform), The Three Guineas,a freehouse, occupies what was the station offices and ticket office before it was rebuilt. Although a bit artificial, it still has a bit of a railway feel with the train times shown and various bits of railway memorabilia dotted around the walls. It is lively, airy and busy, and appeals to a varied clientele from the traveler to the ale-lover. There were 8 ales on when I visited; I had a pint of Traditional Scottish Ales's Caber Tosser, a new one on me. It was well-kept, though served a little too cool for my liking. A decent pint nonetheless, and the staff were friendly enough. My biggest criticism is that it is expensive - prices were notably higher than they should have been.

Worth breaking a journey for, and definitely a good start/end point for a town centre crawl.

You can't miss it once you leave Reading train station. This is a pretty good station pub with upto 8 real ales on at once time, all very unusual names and these changes around a lot. Best to avoid when there is a big sports event going on as it tends to get packed out.

Still deserves its reputation as one of the better station pubs but on a recent visit prior to a Reading crawl the quality of the beer didn’t live up to the selection. Admittedly it was just after midday but three of us had different beers and they were all either a bit cloudy or just not that good. For the prices charged they really need to offer a good product or people will, like we did, have one and move on.

I had a glance in on my way back to the station and was tempted inside by the bank of handpumps. It is a bit of a barn, one huge space and a high ceiling, and the music is a bit loud, but as station pubs go its pretty good. Live sports, (rugby dominates....on TV plus the large shirt selection) but also several screens with Sky Sports News on allowing for a check of the scores of the proper shaped ball game. There is also a monitor for train information. A few pics and memorabilia of the age of steam, a variety of seating, including an extensive outdoor area.
Eight handpumps, Thwaites Lancaster Bomber & Wainwright, Hoskins Hob Best Mild & Dolphin....lightly coloured hoppy and bitter.....Titanic Iceberg, Inveralmond Independence, Houston Brewery Co Festival Ale, and GK IPA on at the time. A bit pricey but it is next to the station with a transient clientele so no real surprise I guess.

Within the station but accessed from outside only, probably due to fear of fare dodgers. A barnlike drinking area, 8 pulls with the beers much better than expected for this kind of place. Lots of big screens and numerous rugby shirts hanging down from the ceiling making the place look like it takes in laundry. Efficient enough staff and not a bad place to wait for a train. Personally I wouldn't bother to stay for more than one pint but quite a few people seem to.

Paid another visit while waiting for a train and was much more impressed, I could see how it justifies its GBG entry. There seems to be a wider choice of smaller brewery beers than before and included George Wright from Merseyside - a particular personal favourite. The rugby shirts have been tidied up and the laundry decor is much less pronounced.
