Blue Scrumpy left this review about Champs

Corner sports bar that is now keg beers only, with handpulls looking forlorn on the bar. If you enjoy watching sport, this is the place to go. Sitting in the window, there are several TV screens to watch pretty much anything you can think of. Walls have a vast amount of sporting memorabilia, with a particular focus on boxing.

Service was more friendly than the Washington a few doors up, but the keg selection was limited to Madri, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruit, John Smith's, Fosters, Coors, Moretti, Carling & Guinness.

Gillespies in Blackpool is a pub, which holds the CASK MARQUE award for serving great quality real ale. A large open plan pub. On April 29th 2014 sees the launch of a new folk club in Blackpool. It's at Gillespie's Bar on Topping Street and will take place on every last Sunday of the month.

Open plan bar designed for upright drinking, but there area tables and sofas. Wood floor, pastel green/white walls, Ikea slat blinds, sports on the tellys and sports flags on the ceiling. Its on a back street amongst some down at heal shops but its a pleasant feel inside and there is a roof/smoking terrace.

There is an average menu and 4 real ales, 2 Greene King products and Hardy & Hansons and a Belhaven on my visit. The beer is ok.

I popped in here because I noticed it recommended in the local CAMRA magazine. Was a bit disappointed to find that the range of four real ales consisted of GK IPA, Old Speckled Hen, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. Having said that it's a pleasant enough place in a town bereft of decent pubs so if you're in Blackpool town centre for more than a couple of hours you could do worse than seek this one out. There was a good food menu. They seem to do food all day and I noticed they had some Wetherspoons like deals (e.g. 2 meals for £6.75, etc). Some TVs' scattered around for sport. Next door is Churchills which is one of the other few pubs in Blackpool of any real note so useful to do both at the same time.
