What a pub this could be, dog friendly and a nice selection of ales.....if only the landlady would have chosen a different career! It's as if she has been sentenced to work there and each and every customer is interrupting her otherwise miserable existence. I can't imagine anyone other than a local staying for more than one.

Will Larter left this review about The Red Lion

A white-washed (or, more accurately, off-white-washed) stone built village local in the back streets of this small town or extended village. The small public bar is to the right, the slightly larger but empty lounge to the left. There are four hand pumps, with Tetleys Bitter, Copper Dragon Best Bitter and guests from Cottage and the more local Bank Top when I was here. I had the Bank Top Flat Cap (it would be apposite for there to be a whippet ale in their repertoire, but in fact it's Cottage who produce a series of beers of that name) and this was a fine beer and reasonably priced at £2.45. A lingering smell of cooking fat from the landlord's dinner put me off staying for a second pint.
