A good looking stone built building on the outside. The inside is rather more shabby. The lounge to the right as you enter is OK, but the rest needs a spruce up. There's a dartboard and pool table to the rear. A giant screen rolled up means I'm guessing they major on sport. Seats all around the bar full of bar blockers. The barmaid was very offhand with me and served a couple of regulars out of turn. Lots of total scrotes in the bar with Primark grey trackies being a bit posh for here. It's pretty poor all round. No real ale of course and a half of Fosters was only £1.15. Won't ever be coming here again.

my husband and i are the new managers of the British Queen, unfortunatly we don't have a choice regarding children, it is in our licence conditions, i myself would love to have children, as even my own family cannot visit the pub with their little ones. I am led to believe it has something to do with past history on the place, and even though it no longer has a bad reputation, the licencing and owners of the company (the pub is part of a chain) will not alter the conditions. The Wellington pub on rochdale road allows children to a certain time and it is a good pub also under new management, which is one to keep in mind for parents.

The new landlords of this establishment are very friendly. The new furnishings and games machines make it more entertaining. No idiots are allowed if they are on Pub Watch they deffinatly can't get in. Entertainment, kareoke and more.

The British Queen has a overflowing sense of community with characters such as little Tommy and the landlord Rita who make you feel welcome from the moment you step in through the doors.

The pints are cheap, crisp and cheap too, guinness is 2.20 and fosters 1.99 , but the steal has to be John Smiths at 1.60 a pint or 80p a half.

If you ask nicely you can also go over the road to Marcos kebab house and eat it in the pub.

Up until 11 you have the convinience of the local supermarket if you ever need to buy any cigarettes.

Friendly staff, clean atmosphere, plenty of room, pool table with enough space, darts and live events. What more could you need? Come down to The British Queen today, I reccomend it!
