Steve C left this review about The Feathers

The Feathers has a curved L-shaped bar counter in the right rear corner that faces spaced out open plan seating. The loud midweek early evening music and disco lights had me thinking that the furniture would often be pushed to the walls making the laminate into a dance floor. Emmerdale was on the television whilst this loud music was blaring out. As I sat supping my half of Fosters I noted little of interest, other than the stain glass front windows and small curved stain glass skylights. Birra Moretti was also available alongside some other standard keg. At the rear is the small ‘Racing Room’ that has a couple of televisions that were playing Racing TV and Sky Sports Racing. Some betting slips, pens and a copy of Paddy Times sat on a table. The people of Ashton seem to like this sort of pub, but not for me though.

A nice looking pub and it does have a clean interior. Was expecting it to be a bit bigger inside but its not. No real ale but its an ok pub so what the hell.

Newly refurbished and reopened. The floor is now all wooden pine look and there's some interesting stained glass. It was quite busy on my Friday late afternoon visit, but I suspect a lot of people were just having a look as it has only been reopen a week or two. Friendly staff and landlady (and landlady's mum). Sadly there's no real ale, you would have thought that they may have tried one or two to try and change their market, after all it closed as a keg only pub, so they need to try something different . I had a half of fizz and a pleasant chat and went on my way. I'll call in again next time I'm in Ashton to see how they're doing. It's good to see it open again and I wish them luck.

The Feathers was a decent looking pub from the outside, the pub was situated on the opposite corner to Yates's.
Once inside the pub had been opened out into a single room with the bar facing, the room seemed pretty devoid of anything comfy to sit on,i think it was more of a night time pub for younger drinkers.
The pub used to be a John Smiths tied house,to my surprise there was one real ale on the bar, John Smiths bitter which was on handpump, this was a decent enough drink.
This pub was a bit of a dissapointment.
