Quinno _ left this review about The Packhorse

A couple of visits in and around the Reading CAMRA Ale Trail. A decent pint of Parklife noted and the review below still rings largely true though occasionally some of the youngish staff can be a bit scatty. Worth seeking out.

November 2015
A rather nice middle class sort of place, a long narrow front with the low-beamed bar off to the right. Lots of gold framed pictures and rugs, quite faux-rustic though sadly the fire wasn’t on (it should have been, really). Selection of papers. Large manicured grassed garden located to rear. So far so decent – however the big star was the bar; four pumps with an excellent range; Loddon Boppit, Butcombe Little Haka, Tim Taylor Dark Mild (excellent shape) and Purple Moose Glaslyn. They also major on gin and the Seville Orange gin that was imbibed by Mrs Quinno and got a big thumbs-up. We left saying that we’d be making the effort to come back here again specially. For a Brunning & Price, that’s high praise. Rated 8.5
