Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bull

Large Greene King pub / restaurant with various semi-traditional seating and dining areas inside supplemented by a substantial L-shaped beer garden to one side and at the back. Oddly, and annoyingly, given the size of the place, it has a tiny bar counter, leading to significant delays when busy (as it was on this visit, although sensible coronavirus restrictions were in place). Just IPA (£4.20) and Abbot available from two of three handpumps.

A large tile hung roadside pub, extended to one side. Inside there are what appear to be original features in two huge fireplaces and a beamed ceiling. The timber posts and beams around the entrance door however look like salvaged imports. The main bar area has a boarded floor but this changes to a terra cotta type brick floor to one side before a recess with a stripy carpet and leather armchairs. A large portion of the pub to the left on entering is seemingly given over to formal dining, not that anyone was on a late Saturday afternoon. Carpeted again in here, a grandfather clock by the entrance to this area is of note. Beyond and to the rear is a decent looking patio garden.
Four handpumps on the bar, one unclipped, Purity Mad Goose reversed, leaving a "choice" of Pride or Doom Bar. I had a half of Pride, it was a little tired but not rejectable. No idea what the food is like, no menus were out and the specials board had been wiped clean.
A routine pub, nothing special and it felt rather impersonal.

Other reviewers were luckier than us for 'interesting range of cask ales', we found the distinctly uninspiring Youngs, Pride, Broadside. Huge inglenook as you enter with a fierce draw and roaring logs. We were asked whether we'd be eating and that seems to be the direction that the Bull leans, there is not really any comfortable bar space to just stand & drink, and many tables were busy with mostly diners. A large outside area, seating for 50 plus more picnic seats for warmer weather, enabled us to take advantage of some weak sun, and the smokers to have a tab.
