The Jolly Knight is a decent looking pub that is next door to the Kings Head.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room with the bar on the right side,the seating is tall tables and chairs to the front and comfy bench seating to the rear right,the room is carpeted.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of GK St Edmunds which went down well,the other beer was Old Speckled Hen.
There was a TV on showing football.
Customers who were asking for the beer garden were directed to the rear corridor which leads to the Ye Arrow.
I thought this was a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Jolly Knight
More plainly decorated than I remember from before, with sparse furniture and a lack of atmosphere hardly helped by some dull sport on the large TV screens. Doom Bar, Olde Trip and St Edmunds (£3.50) available from five handpumps. Exited through the corridor linking it to Ye Arrow (which had the same ale selection on, and benefits from a patio beer garden where most of the customers were to be found on a hot summer's day).

Another contrived bar in the King's Head complex, The Jolly Knight consists of one bar with a large inglenook, a shabby carpet and a very artificial medieval theme. It's a high street bar dominated by oversized tv Screens showing sports matches. Some 16th Century features can be noticed through the modern plaster, but that doesn't make it an historic artifact. There were 3 ales on, I had Harveys and Hanson's Bitter which tasted as artificial as the bar feels. It's ok to drop in as part fo a crawl, but I don't think I could make it a regular haunt.

The Jolly Knight is a small single room High Street pub that had one other customer when I visited on a recent Monday evening. I didn’t see any Sky Sports advertisements, but the presence of three plasma screens in such a small bar suggests that football is shown. There was no football on during my visit and the plasma screens were all showing the Chase quiz program with very loud sound.
A selection of standard draught was available from the bar and three of the five hand pumps were unused leaving Ruddles and Old Speckled Hen as the ale options.
Well over a year ago on my last visit to Rochester this pub was packed and I had trouble getting to the bar. After this visit I was left wondering what the big attraction was as I saw nothing that would have me rushing back.
As a note, the Jolly Knight is connected by a corridor to Ye Arrow which is found at the rear. They share the same toilets and the draught and cask ale options are exactly the same so I they probably also share a cellar.

If there is an air of familiarity between the Jolly Knight on the High Street and Ye Arrow round the corner, do not be surprised. The 2 pubs share the same toilets, cellar, staff, food and probably customers.
My recent visit was the first for some time and whereby it previously had a bit of character in a plastic medieval theme pub kind of way, the Coats of Arms, suits of armour and stags heads that wouldn’t have convinced the most gullibal tourist have now been removed leaving a quite bare and nondescript pub where the multiple TV screens appear to be the focal point. A series of high tables align one side with some banquette seating at the rear and any homely qualities are thin on the ground. Coloured downlights follow the shape of the bar and highlight the admittedly impressive fireplace. An exit at the rear leads to the toilets and continues through to Ye Arrow if you feel like doing a pub crawl without leaving the building.
The beer selection on my recent was limited to 2 Greene King beers (Old Speckled Hen and Rotyal London) with 3 pumps unused. The prices were steep (£3.40 for the Speckled Hen) and quality was poor which I should have suspected having already had an equally poor pint of Royal London in Ye Arrow beforehand.
Unlike Ye Arrow, it doesn’t have the benefit of a panoramic view and all in all, it’s a pretty miserable place for a pint in a city with so much going for it. The barmaid did have a lovely smile though.

we had or 30th school reunion in here on 28th aug,, we had a blinding time, locals all friendly enuff and no trouble,, will deffo use this pub again when in area

This is a nice enough traditional pub, which has decided to cash in on it's good fortune in being located next to Rochester Castle. Whilst it does feel a bit touristy, it was full of friendly locals on my visit, which generated a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
There were at least five different ales on (although three of them were Greene King - groan!) and they seemed well kept. In fact, I was rather loathe to leave after just one pint, but sadly my train home awaited me.
I'd definitely pop in again next time I'm in town.
