Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Bulls Head

Fairly pleasant pub in the centre of the village of Pratt's Bottom and just opposite the village green. On arrival, it was clear that quite a bit was going on in the village. Apparently the activity was ITV people filming a documentary about some crime that had occurred in the area. They had hired out the pub's car park, but were at least giving the pub plenty of business.

The main bar area is light and airy and was a nice place to relax after the rickety bus journey on the R10 from Cudham. Sharp's Doom Bar was once again the regular beer. Guests here were Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter & St Austell Tribute. Locals and staff all seemed like a friendly bunch. The barmaid gave me the pub's wifi code to enable me to plot my onward journey, as I had no mobile phone reception. The pub is a bit out of the way and whilst it's a nice village local, I can't see too many reasons to rush back.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bulls Head

Ex-Courage pub with unusual pediment signage above the main entrance. This leads to the central bar area, with dining room wings off to each side and another dining area up three steps at the back. Also has some outdoor seating on the front patio and plenty more in the rear beer garden. With three of the four handpumps in use, I found Tribute, Youngs Special and Harvey's (£4.50).

Fairly long front bar area with barstools next the bar & banquette seating under windows opposite. Room to right was primarily for dining (plenty of senior clientele here) and in the other direction the bar winds round to a separated room on the left which is home to the dartboard with its own space at the far end. Opposite this an upper ‘deck’ surprisingly houses a pool table and this area carries the story of Dick Turpin, who apparently used the pub in 1736. Also here a superb photo of two old boys in their rather shabby Sunday best, boots tied by rope around ankles, one with a suckling pig under one arm & his pint in the other huge mitt, quality shot! Very community based with flyers on the bar listing forthcoming events for next qtr – jam & jazz nights, easter egg hunt, sports, charity race night, friendly darts nt, hog roast fete… Bar snacks incl bacon bap £2.50, mains around £8, mon/tues lunch- roast plus dessert £8, mon nt- curries £6.50 incl a pint. One staff serving drinks & taking food orders ystdy lunch but no-one had to wait long. Theakstons Cooper’s Butt was just ok but the Tribute was good, they also offered Spitfire and (ahem!) courage. beer is moderate, sometimes has youngs, also does Courage best and J. smiths if you can class it as a beer.Purports to be a family pub, but the atmosphere not that great, busy Friday nights.Tried posting a photo to no avail.
