Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Walnut Tree

Attractive pub set slightly back from the A26 Tonbridge Road to the west of Maidstone.

Inside, there is a cosy, carpeted L-shape room. There is also a pleasant patio area at the front of the pub, with some seating undercover. Rather sarcastic signs requested that customers keep the noise down due to complaints from their neighbours. Presumably the pub was here well before they moved in!

When we arrived, there appeared to be only a couple of real ales - Goacher's Fine Light Ale & Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. A third pumpclip was turned around. However, it soon became apparent that it was only turned around as a local did not like looking at the picture of King Charles on the pumpclip! This beer was Musket Gracious, which I duly ordered.

Locals and bar staff seemed a fairly friendly bunch. It's a fair trek to get here from the centre, but it probably just about warrants its inclusion in the 2023 Good Beer Guide.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Walnut Tree

The unusual ragstone facade is easily missed if driving along the Tonbridge Road as it is tucked away around the corner opposite the entrance to Oakwood Park. Inside, it has been partially opened out to form a 'L'-shaped bar, with a central pillar retained to house a fireplace. Comfortable furniture and tidy decor. Darts. Weekly comedy club and regular live music plus other events advertised. Patio beer garden on a terrace to the main road side. Food available. Three of five handpumps in operation on this visit, still offering Best as a reminder of its former Courage days plus the regular Goachers Fine Light (£3.50) and Bombardier as a guest.
