The bar of the Pilot faces the entrance and supports six hand pumps that were drawing five brews from Harveys and Old Rosie cider. The draught is limited with only Carling, Grolsch, Stowford Press cider and Guinness being available, but the handful of locals present during a recent midweek afternoon visit only had eyes for the ale. There is a jukebox on the wall above a piano to the left of the bar and to the right is an inglenook complete with a roaring log fire that was much appreciated on the cold day I popped in.
I noticed some seating at the rear of the pub, but I didn't have a proper nose. Live music is advertised for the weekends.

I liked it in here and would have no problem returning.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Pilot

One of the best 'local' pubs in Maidstone, with excellent Harveys beer (plus a draught cider) from the six handpumps. An interesting jumble of seating areas distributed around a couple of small rooms. Small patio area out back. Regular live music. Proper pub atmosphere, and well worth the walk southwards out of the town centre.

This is a terrific pub, the best I visited in Maidstone during a short visit. It reminded me alot of the Harveys pub in London, the Royal Oak, in both furniture and decoration. There's lots of artwork and niknaks dotted around that give it a pleasing, homely feel. The staff were more than happy to have a chat and my pint of mild was in solid condition. A lovely place to round off an evening's drinking.
