I was a little startled to find a bank of handpumps covered in Lilley's fruit cider clips, but luckily the barman saw my confusion and admitted that they did have IPA on but had "lost the clip". It transpired to be the Rhubarb, in case you wondered. Anyway, despite being Greene King it felt like a proper pub and the IPA was about as good as it could be. Adequate.

Greene King pub with a couple of drinking areas to the front of the pub near the bar and a slightly larger room at the rear.

Abbot & IPA are the real ales. The other 4 handpulls were clipped with Lilley's cider, which were all dispensed from boxes in a fridge - Cherries & Berries, Tropical Cider, Mango Cider & Rhubarb Cider.

It was quiet for a town centre pub. When we left, I don't believe there were any other customers remaining, unless they were in the outdoor courtyard.

A 10% CAMRA discount is offered, but only on the ales. A little disappointing overall.

Still as described below, this remains a lively local, unspoilt by its proximity to the main shopping area. The atmosphere was convivial, helped by robust banter from the young males and Dolly Parton on the jukebox, the latter helping us keep abreast of things as the TV was switched off. Two gaming machines entertained the more excitable clientele. Only one ale on, Abbott, which was in average condition. Craft ales were Level Headed Giant's Session IPA and Flint Eye lager, plus there was Amstel, Madri, Guinness and two Lillie's ciders. Food was standard GK fare at higher than average prices. A decent enough pub when in the town centre.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Druids Arms

Quite an interesting building, both inside and out, although some of the rustic 'old' wood may only date back to the days when this was (one of) the first Hogshead brand of pubs. However, features such as the main fireplace certainly add to the historic feel of the place. Outside seating available in the courtyard which can also be accessed by side alleyway (which has recently been opened up again). It did get rather rough at one stage, but the atmosphere has certainly improved again in recent years. As a Greene King house, I found IPA and Abbot plus the seasonal Old Spooky Hen and Starry Night (£3.50 less 30p Camra discount) on four of the six handpumps on this visit.

Steve C left this review about The Druids Arms

The Druids Arms is a narrow pub with a bar that runs down the right hand wall and faces seating on the left. There are no televisions, but there was some low background music playing. It wasn’t very busy during my visit last Friday afternoon and half of the customers were tucking into the pub grub.
Exmoor Ales Exmoor Gold, Vale Brewery’s Gravitas, Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, Abbot and Druids Arms Specially Selected Best Bitter were available from the six hand pumps. A standard draught selection was also available alongside San Miguel.
To the right of the pub there is some outside seating that stretches from the high street to the rear of the pub.

I found it to be quite relaxing in here and one could be forgiven for forgetting that this is in the middle of a town centre.

The Druid’s Arms is a Greene King pub, and in drinking circles it is traditional to be scathing of Greene King. I don’t know why? I’ve never understood this attitude. The Druids Arms was a fine pub. Six different ales on the hand pump, including two I’d never seen before. As this was early in the day’s drinking we just had one here – a pint of “Flanker’s Tackle”, chosen for the rude name. The only criticism I’d make of this place was that the service was a tad slow, but the chap did apologize for this.
It’s a good town centre pub – ideal for popping into whilst ‘er indoors TM does shopping. In the final analysis this place the place scores 8/10.
