Well-placed pub opposite the station and fully on trend in the current 'social club' theme (don't worry, definitely a pub not a club). The surprisingly large interior has a sort of laid-back warehouse feel. with a well-stocked bar to one side and a separate kitchen counter. Changing ales available - the sampled Old Hookey was in fine form - and Cask Marque certified. As warned below, the prices are somewhat eye-watering however. Various entertainments provided; at time of visit there appeared to be a 1940's American dance class under way. Certainly not a traditional pub but it felt quite pleasant.

Has had a refurb and looks a bit better than it did. Still three ales on (Doom Bar as a staple) and prices have sailed through the £4 barrier - fools and their money I suppose.

A decent attempt at creating an upmarket young(er) drinkers venue from the old Flyer and Firkin/Forum. Or ‘achingly trendy venue’, depending on your viewpoint. The décor is a mixture of mood lighting and leather sofas. A number of music and entertainment evenings get the punters in regularly. Some interesting foreign lagers and Aspall’s Cyder are on tap. The ale selection and quality have periods of ascendency and descendency; when it’s good it’s very good though. Either way one constant is that they often run out during gigs without any effort at replacement.

The Oakford Social Club is located just across the road from Reading Railway Station and the interior is much larger than the frontage would suggest. There is a seating area at the front of the building and then the bar is found on the right wall where premium draught products can be purchased. There are three hand pumps that were drawing Stonehenge Ales’ Eye-Opener, Hogs Back Brewery’s T.E.A. and Vale Brewery’s Metroland during my recent Saturday afternoon visit. Beyond the bar is some seating and a stage area that I was reliably informed hosts live music acts throughout the week. More seating can be found down a few steps at the very rear of the building where access can be gained to a paved beer garden that is full of covered and uncovered seating.
There are a couple of gaming machines and an old retro arcade table. A quiz was advertised for the upcoming Monday evening, but I am unsure if this is a weekly event.

This place is aimed at a twenty-something crowd, but I found it comfortable enough during the early evening. I’m not sure what it is like later in the evening after the beers have been flowing for a few hours.

Definitely pitched at the younger drinker but by no means out of bounds to the more mature among us,the interior has a sunken area with a large banquette,a raised section and a very appealing rear courtyard with bench seating. There is a performance area for live acts but nothing was happening early evening Saturday. At the bar were three handpumps serving Stonehenge Eye Opener,Hogs Back TEA and Vale Metroland. As far as I can recall the ale quality was fine.

This is a spacious venue which I remember as being called the Forum some years ago. Now an unreliable music venue, bands don't tend to play when advertised.
