Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bower Inn

Formerly a Shepherd Neame house, this community pub still shows some signs of its previous ownership. The 'U'-shaped bar is pretty basic, but manages to fit in a pool table on one side, darts and bar stools in the middle, and some slightly more comfortable seating on the other. A few rough benches in a small yard out back (mainly for the smokers I suspect, as it doesn't look very enticing). Master Brew (£3.00) available from one of the two handpumps. Reasonably busy on a Wednesday evening with a darts match on, and it's good to see this old-school pub still going four years after my last visit.

The Bower Inn is a small rough around the edges U shaped local’s boozer that is a short walk from Maidstone West Railway Station. Around to the left of the bar is a pool table and an oche runs along the front window where there is a dartboard on the wall. There are two or three standard tables with chairs around to the right of the bar along with a piano. A banner on the exterior of the pub advertises Sky Sports, but the two plasma screens that I spotted were switched off during my recent Wednesday afternoon visit. There was some background music and live entertainment was advertised for the upcoming weekend.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and one of the two hand pumps was off leaving Doom Bar as the lone ale option. I didn’t see any food advertised.
At the rear is a gravel covered beer garden that isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing so I imagine that it is mostly used by smokers. Children are not permitted in the pub at any time.

The handful of locals that lined the bar seemed harmless enough and the woman working behind the bar was very friendly. I like a good old boozer, but this pub is probably a little too far from the centre of town to warrant a revisit.

Most Friendly Pub in Kent!

A small but charming pub, it is in the process of being refurbished as previous owners did not take much care but it has been under new ownership for about a year and has great, friendly staff & cheep drinks. Complete with pool table, dart board, sky sports, small fire by the sofa lit during winter and garden to the back. A great Local and just as friendly if your a new face. Worth a visit for a pint... or 4
