The Windmill Tavern is an 18th century pub that consists of a Lounge Bar, Public Bar and Gin Bar. During a recent Tuesday evening I didn’t venture from the left hand public bar, much like the other three customers. In amongst a standard and premium keg range were three hand pumps that were drawing Flack’s Double Drop, Woodfordes Wherry and Salopian’s Shropshire Gold. Food is available for lunch between midday and 15:00 and roasts are available on Sundays from midday until 18:00. Monday to Friday from 18:00 until 22:00 “Posh Pizza” is available. This is made up of 2 pizzas and garlic bread for £15.50, cheaper than an Italian.
During my visit some background music was playing and the plasma screen was off, although BT Sport is advertised. Those averse to football and darts will probably feel more at home in one of the other bars. One major benefit of having separate bars is that functions can be catered for. Out the back is a large grass covered beer garden.
This place advertises itself as a “country pub in town” and I certainly wouldn’t disagree with that. This is one of the better pubs of Gravesend and worth a visit if in the area.

This pub grows on you? Good food, beer is a little more expensive than other pubs but there is a lack of idiots and drop outs. If you like a quiet drink with no swearing or drama, then this is for you. 10 out of 10 for staff, food, location and beer...

I drop in every now and again but I NEVER feel welcome. Nice pub with nice garden that is very pleasant in the summer. Grab your beer and head for the garden and you can pretend you are in another more welcoming pub. Needs new management and all new staff to give it a change of direction.
