The Richmond Tavern is a small and basic U shaped Shepherd Neame pub. All four of the hand pumps had their clips reversed so only a standard draught range was available. My visit was just after the pub had opened on Monday so maybe they had a very busy weekend and the drayman hadn’t been to visit yet.
There is a large plasma screen at the front of the pub and a smaller one to the left rear. These were both switched off, but Sky Sports was advertised so the TVs probably go on when there is something worthwhile to watch. There was some sporadic background music off the jukebox, but the volume wasn’t intrusive.
The three or four locals in attendance were nice enough and the barmaid was very friendly. There was some free cheese and crackers with pickles etc. on the bar which I thought was a nice touch.
There is a table with a couple of chairs on the path outside the front door. My visit coincided with the first bit of decent weather we’ve had this year so an old boy was laying on a sun lounger by the entrance. Strangely he was lapping up the sun’s rays whilst wearing a coat, body warmer and bobble hat.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here again, but I would drink here if I lived locally.

Billed as the smallest pub in Folkestone, the place was closed when we visited.
