Alan Winfield left this review about The Earl Grey

The Earl Grey was a Shepherd Neame tied house that was situated at the top end of the narrow high street.
Once inside the pub had a single room which narrowed to the rear, the bar was on the mid right side, the seating was comfy bench tpye and small stools.
There were usually three real ales on the bar,Master Brew,Shepherd Neame Mild and Best.
I have been in this pub on many occasions with my wife to be,then on our honeymoon,we visited the pub almost every day,as this was one of our favourite Folkeston pubs.
The last occasion we went in here was the last day of our honeymoon,we was having a quiet drink when a large group of men came in and sat close to us,we got into conversation and they found we was on our honeymoon, they were all Northern Irish and members of the UDR,who were training at Hythe firing ranges.
This was a massive drinking session and we were not allowed to buy any drinks,a great night out,we finally staggered out at closing time.
A great pub which we have had some really good times in.
Such a shame it has closed down.
