Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Deal Hoy

Backstreet Shepherd Neame pub a few streets back from the seafront and a short walk north of the town centre so probably more used by locals than visitors during normal times. However, with Covid-19 restrictions in place, one could only take a brief look at the refurbished L-shaped bar on the way through to the large patio garden at the back. This is an excellent spot on a sunny day, with plenty of tables (some under large umbrellas) and shelter from any sea breezes. It also has an outdoor covered kitchen area to facilitate food service. Master Brew and Whitstable Bay Pale (£4.30, and in good condition) available from two of the four handpumps.

This is a fine cosy Shep Neame pub dating from 1850 tucked away just off the top end of the High Street in Deal. It takes its name from a type of small sailing vessel that used to work the Kent coastline transferring people and supplies to larger sailing ships moored offshore. Therefore there should be no surprise on entering to find a nautical themed interior around the U shaped main bar.
It’s not the biggest pub inside but then there is a spacious outside courtyard seating area out back with large umbrellas and a raised area at the rear with a covered shelter.
Three hand pumps on the bar with Master Brew and Spitfire Gold as the permanent Shep brews and a changing ale on the third pump which I failed to note. I took my half of the Spitfire into the garden and unfortunately that’s when I realised it was very tired and way beyond its best. But now in the garden I couldn’t be arsed to go back and ask for a replacement. It became almost undrinkable towards the end and the bedding plants got some additional moisture they were not expecting.
Shame really but this wasn’t the first tired beer I’d had from a Sheps pub on this trip. Perhaps it was because it was a Tuesday.

Just off the High Street this is a splendid Shepherd Neame pub serving guest beers as well. There is a ship/pirate theme, carried on into the outside yard. Plently of care taken over the place.

What a great little gem of a pub.
i had never been there before but i had a genuine friendly welcome from the rather attractive landlady
called Vanessa [i blushed] It has a great cosy feel to the pub and the food and drink [they do a tapas menu] were great. Despite geting ready for a music evening the staff still found time to be friendly and the live band [a crazy jazz combo but good fun] turned a quiet night out into quite something. i am new to deal but have found my local!

The best 'frindly' size V&T (fat tonic) not slimline, in town.
Also good bar snacks on Sunday
Yum Yum!
