Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Tiger

Old-school backstreet local; once so common, but nowadays increasingly rare... Anyway, being set on a corner, it has a L-shaped interior with bench seating along the outer walls and a pool table at the far end of the longer arm. Disappointingly, none of the three handpumps were working, but the bottled offerings include Greene King IPA, Courage Directors, Hobgoblin and (unexpectedly) H&W's Fursty Ferret (£3.70).

The Tiger is situated on a side street off East Hill.
This is one of those pubs i like the look of from the outside.
Once inside there is a L shaped room with the bar on the right side, there is comfy bench seating to the front and on the right side with small stools, there is a darts board to the front left and a pool table to the rear left.
There are TVs at each side of the room which were showing sky sports football score updates.
There were two real ales on,i had a drink of Courage Best which went down very well, the other beer was Sharps Atlantic.
The pub was very busy with locals.
I really took to this pub.

Roger Button left this review about The Tiger

Set off the main road near the top of East Hill, the Tiger is almost camouflaged within the surrounding houses and barely noticeable unless you knew where to look or lived next door.

The pub dates from 1869 and the exterior is largely the same with some fine etched tigers in the windows being one of the more interesting features. The L-shaped mock Tudor interior is a bit dated and the furnishings are becoming quite tatty in places with torn upholstery quite evident. The front end contains a dartboard whilst the far end is dominated by a pool table and there are several TV’s, some basic, some flat screen, mostly tuned to Sky Sports News.

Whilst it has aways seemed friendly enough, some of the locals can be a bit salty with the conversation although it seems to be a place with a lot of community spirit where everyone knows everyone else.

There are 3 hand pumps with 2 available on my recent visit, Courage Best and Youngs Special (£2.80) with a third not used. They have in the past had an interesting guest beer (sometimes local) but wether this is still a feature I could not ascertain.

The pub is very much a local affair and wouldn’t be of much interest to visitors to the town other than a stop off on a pub crawl.
