E TA left this review about The Victoria Cross

The Victoria Cross is a cheaply built 1960s estate pub in its own grounds consisting of two large bars and is run by a Nepali family. The bar on the left as you enter is used as a Nepali restaurant and is called Ghurka Village, the one on the right is a soulless cuboid with a carpeted floor, a pool table and some gaming machines which were silent when we visited. It's shabby and battered, but the staff keep it spotlessly clean. Although the staff were pleasant, the locals were not so welcoming and there was an undertone of menace present. There were 2 ales on, Spitfire and Bombardier, both well past their prime. We didn't try the food. At least they try on the ale front, but I'm not sure it's worth making the effort to come this far from the beaten track for.
