E TA left this review about The Royal George

A single bar high street drinking den, The Royal George is another historic pub whose name reflects Chatham's naval past, although the eponymous ship had no real connection to the town and sank long before the pub opened (which was probably around 1858). The bar is dominated by the pool table, while the jukebox's noises overwhelm the atmosphere and make conversation difficult. Two pub dogs provide entertainment and represent the more welcoming locals. There is no real ale. This is very much a locals' boozer, no frills, no pretence, just a place for people to go and enjoy cheap alcohol with their mates. Don't come here if you don't belong or if you are easily offended.
