E TA left this review about Constitution Castle

Built in the 1860s as part of the expansion of Chatham, The Constitution Castle was originally privately owned, but was acquired by Dartford Brewery soon after. It has since been owned by Courage and Shepherd and Neame, and is now a freehouse. It's a bit of a hidden gem - in the back streets off the beaten track, the interior is scruffy, chaotic and is in need of decoration. But it probably offers the most genuine welcome I've had in a long time, from both staff and locals alike. The first pint I had was off, and the barman changed the barrel immediately without question, and one of the locals bought me another beer by way of an apology. Even the pub dog was friendly. There were two ales on - the two pints of Nelsons 1805 I had were in excellent condition. I would happily come back here and would strongly recommend its inclusion in a crawl.
