Renamed Elephant at the Market. Large refurb. No ale, though a forest of keg fonts.

September 2013 (as Queens Hotel)
Massive Marstons outlet. Quite rambling and characterful inside. What would have been the courtyard has been converted and absorbed into the interior - the fitted skylight here is nice. Unfortunately, this pub, which could be a draw, is let down by scruffiness and a ‘so-what’ ale selection (Pedigree and, oddly, Brakspear Bitter). My Pedigree was fine, in fairness. Very quiet on my Sunday evening visit. A bit of effort and this could be a worthwhile destination. Rated 5

This place is very dirty had the misfortune staying here 3 nights the bar area and the rooms are very dirty and dusty you can write your name in the dust everywhere in the place just had a one warm pint on the Sunday when we arrived the other times we went in there was not many in when all the other pubs were busy. Now for our room God help anyone who has room 15 that was like the pub very dusty stayed 3 night room service once told them the sink was blocked they said they new but had to cut back on repairs. The cleaner came to do our room just after we had breakfast stood at the door with a fag in her hand said she would call back but never did she saw us go out she was sat in the beer garden with other staff members all were faging it would never stay in a Marstons pub again.

Old Boots left this review about Queens Hotel

Big Marstons owned hotel, regency looking facade but probably on an earlier building, the former archway leading from the street to rear yard has been glazed over and provides a long thin seating area with former rooms off to the side in a sort of open plan affair. The bar counter is towards the rear, with loads of keg founts and five handpumps of beers from the Marstons range in adequete condition, served in the modern detached superficial style. There are the usual screens and machines, fairy lit twigs plus added fairy lights, there are also too many mirrors for my liking. The food wasn't very good either.
