Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Chequers Inn

Attractive old pub on the High Street with a pleasant riverside terrace at the rear.

The interior has some nice beams, but doesn't possess too much character. Dining appears to be a focus. Apart from St Austell Tribute, ales were all from Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter, Old Ale & Carolean Crown. The Carolean Crown was ok and we enjoyed the views of the river and Aylesford's medieval bridge from the terrace at the back.

E TA left this review about The Chequers Inn

An historic pub with 14th Century origins, currently a freehouse. It has low, beamed ceilings, an irregular floor, much of which is sadly carpeted, original fireplaces and a very pleasant terrace at the back overlooking the river. Despite all this cuteness, it remains a decent village local, with TV showings sports matches, gaming machines, a pool table and basic food at a reasonable price. There are also tables laid for diners, so it caters for most needs. The staff were young, dim and easy-on-the-eye, while the clientele were a mix of tourists and local lads. Two ales on, I had a pint of Brains's Organ Morgan Golden Ale which was in excellent condition. Well worth a visit and a good place to spend some leisure time.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Chequers Inn

Slightly more plain and simple inside than one expext from the 'olde world' facade, but this pub does have an excellent terrace overlooking the River Medway and Aylesford's medieval bridge. Two real ales on, including a resptable pint of Masterbrew, and a reasonably-priced bar snack menu.
