A drinkers' local, with a changing selection of ales on offer in a fairly basic stone-floored pub with few frills. A side room houses pool and darts and there is a small patio garden. Handily placed for St John's Road station opposite.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Railway

When i went in this pub it was called the Hole in the wall but it has now reverted back to its original name of the Railway.
The pub is situated very close to St Johns train station.
Once inside the pub had lots of different drinking areas and the pub had a stone floor, when i visited the pub it was an Ushers tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Ushers Founders Ale which was quite a nice drink the othe beer was Ushers bitter.
This was quite a nice pub and was worth the walk from the middle of Ryde.
