Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Globe

On the seafront overlooking the Solent, this pub is hidden away off the main drag through Cowes. There is a large room spread around a central bar on the ground floor, with a more formal restaurant upstairs.

I was hoping for better on the ale front. They had just St Austell Proper Job & Greene King Coronation Ale. However, we decided to eat in the bar area and my Fillet Steak presented still cooking on a hot stone with side portions of chips and salad was very enjoyable.

The pub was quite busy when we arrived, but had pretty much emptied out by the time we left and just as a live music act was setting up. Having said that, a group of lads asking for Space Raider crisps had just walked in before our exit. So, perhaps they were the target clientele for the singer.

An unsurprisingly boat-themed pub in a key location on The Parade waterfront, which appears to have had a refurb as it is certainly no longer a sports bar. There are stills rows of tables outside to enjoy the harbour views from, but inside is fairly plain and smart wood throughout, with a smattering of nautical junk. It also opens for breakfast and there is a posher restaurant upstairs in the evenings as well as a rooftop terrace. Ales on were Yates Seadog and Proper Job.

A former Victorian Century hotel, now a much less grand sports bar. There is an outside seating area at the front from which you can overlook the harbour entrance, and similarly there are picture windows at the front of the building. The outside furniture is cheap metal, and the terrace could easily be mistaken for an ash tray. Inside, the floor has modern tiles throughout and has been conjoined to s single open plan area. There is plenty of comfy seating, but the overall feel is cheap. Food is junk food, there are multiple TV screens showing live sports, and there is both pool and darts to play. They have a weekly happy hour where you throw a die to decide how much you pay for your beer. The young staff were friendly and helpful, though many of the customers were the opposite. Ales on were Boondoggle and Tribute, the latter in fair condition. It’s OK for a quick pint or to watch a match but I didn’t find it particularly restful.
