Update: Have utilised the Feathers to meet colleagues for a beer a couple of times over the last few months due to its handy location just off the A10. It’s had a bit of an internal make over since my last review and is a bit smarter than I remember it, although they’ve clearly employed the usual food led pub make over artists who only know one trick (exposed wood floors with a couple of rugs thrown about, exposed brickwork on the walls and liberal use of farrow and ball pastel shades on every bit of wood or plaster.)
The layout is the same with the dedicated dining room at one end and then long L shaped bar section where you can just have a drink, but also used for dining. There is one flat screen tele for the sport, which strangely moved from the main section to one of the alcove section between my recent visits, presumably because people wanting to watch the sport were getting in the way of the diners.
Also, sadly the beers are the same and three of the four ale pumps were working dispensing GK IPA , Abbott and OSH but they have been well kept..

The Feathers Inn is a 17th century coaching inn, situated on the old A10 in the village of Wadesmill. It is also a hotel and has something like 30 rooms out the back of the pub. The pub is food focussed and has a dedicated restaurant section at one end of the pub and the rest laid to wooden table seating. Was renowned for its Sunday Carvery a few years back, but the quality and service seemed to take a dive.
But since the A10 by-pass has opened and the pub is now no longer on the main thoroughfare, they seem to have got their act back together and the food has improved. Although I haven’t tried the carvery since coming back but the 2 meals for £9 deals during the week days have been good.
Its at GK house so the beers are nothing special being the usual Green King fair, but both the IPA and Speckled Hen I have tried on my visits were pleasant enough and seemed to be kept well.
The Feathers is also well located if you are doing one of the many country walks in the area, and is a good place to finish a country walk, especially in Winter when they have the large open fireplace (open to both sides) , which dominates the middle of the bar area, blazing away.
