Steve C left this review about The Queens Head

After seeing food advertised on the A-board outside my wife and I decided to pop into the Queens Head late on a recent Thursday afternoon for a bite to eat. From this A-board we learned that the kitchen hours are midday until 15:00 and 17:00 until 21:00 Monday through to Saturday and midday until 17:00 on Sundays. After entering the L shaped interior we were put off eating by the loud dance music that was being enjoyed by the young bar staff and two customers. It was a shame because I wouldn’t have minded eating whilst watching a bit of the tennis from Roland Garros that was being shown on the plasma screen courtesy of Eurosport. After ordering a couple of generic lagers we decided to sit in the paved beer garden out the back. Cask Elgoods’ Cambridge Bitter and Sharps’ Doom Bar were also available from two hand pumps.

The enclosed beer garden is quite large and is full of plastic wicker furniture. It was a reasonable spot for some alfresco drinking, but the extractor fan from the kitchen was pumping out a stench of old chip fat.

We weren’t overly impressed with this place so would probably walk past if in the area again.
