Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Bear

Angled corner pub on the far side of Batchworth Lock, but only a short walk from the town centre. Modernised inside, but its shape and features such as the bow windows avoid too sterile a feel. As a Greene King house, it was no surprise to find IPA (£4.60) and Abbot available from the four handpumps.

Had a bit of a refurb and new tenants December 2012 and the emphasis became more on food. By December 2013 it had changed hands again and the menu has a distinct Indian bias to it. Still a decent enough pub.

Closest pub to the canal in Ricky ,it has a few outside benches which overlook a backwater.Inside this Greene King tied house there is a large open plan interior broken up by pillars. To the right is an alcove with a pool table while to the left of the entrance is an area set up mainly for dining. There is a friendly welcome at the bar,and besides GK IPA and Abbott there was a guest in the shape of Robinson's Unicorn(£3.20),which proved as unremarkable as the GK options.
There is now a little more focus on food with pub grub mains around £7,sandwiches and jackets £4.50.Thursday is open mic and there are occasional quiz nights. The flat screen to the left of the bar was switched off during my lunchtime visit. The musak was pop orientated but not too loud.
The vibe in here has not really changed over the years ,a little laddish and still more a place to drink than bring your bird.

Been visiting here for a number of years during a regular Rickmansworth pub crawl and it’s good to see that it has remained as a pub rather than gone down the restaurant/bar route. Always a friendly welcome and it’s a good place for a beer. Green King beers and they usually have the Abbot Reserve in around Christmas.
