ORIGINAL REVIEW Dec 2011
The traditional exterior is not replicated within, which has largely been stripped out to create an open plan lounge bar.Entering through the corner doorway ,the small bar is diagonally opposite and is staffed by an enthusiastic young crew.Three handpumps dispence GK IPA,CW Bombardier and a well kept Adnams Southwold Bitter at £3.20pp.
The furniture is a mixture of fixed bench seating, wooden tables and chairs and several square leather pooves, while on one wall is a flat screen showing a fireplace in action,an unnessary silly distraction. To one side through an opening is a seperate section which acts as a dining area during lunchtime. This also leads to a large "hidden" garden with a substantial awning to keep you dry as you smoke.
There is a quiz machine and a weekly open mic night ,so despite being away from the main town centre drinking circuit there is an upbeat vibe but the rather dull selection of real ale would count against anything more than an infrequent visit from myself.

December 2015 UPDATE
Some effort has be made to stock more interesting real ale with Adnams Ghost Ship ,Oakham Citra with the ubiquitous Doom Bar.Sadly my Citra was in poor nick. The pub has become more popular ,but most folk stick to the keg dross and I cant recommend the place as worthy of including on a crawl judging by my shoddy pint.

FURTHER UPDATE
Just two handpumps offering Doom Bar and Oakham Citra ,this time on much better form.Wall mounted taps offer 3 craft keg beers (Tiny Rebel FUBAR,Adnams Mosaic Pale,Meantime Yakima Red ) which increased the drinking options beyond the standard multinational brands dross. An upgrade and now worth a crawl visit.
