Visited this pub for the first time yesterday as we heard it had been taken over by new management. I went with four friends and all 5 of us had lovely meals. The sizzling skillets which our meals were served on were a nice touch too. we managed to meet the new manager who was very friendly and didn't mind taking a few minutes to talk to us. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I visited the U.K. from our home in Canada Last year and went for a meal at this pub. I ordered at the bar and presented my credit card which they accepted, after the meal, when I tried to pay, a very rude girl refused my card so we had to scrape together all the British cash we had. We never returned, it would appear this pub has a reputation for rude staff.I was informed later by a lawyer friend I would have been within my rights to walk away as they had no legal right to refuse my card as they had previously accepted it therefore had a contract with me, I just wish I had known I would have enjoyed telling the rude, heavy, sneering girl to shove her bill. I found the food to be "not bad" though, for a "Brit cooked" steak.

I'm a local, and went 3 weeks ago as it has been refurbished and apparently cleared from fights... it took 5 mns to place the order as the girl behind the bar was just 18. There was no onion rings but wasn't offered an altenative, my boyfriend wanted wedges instead of fries but had to pay for a side order. The food finally came and my boyfriend's steak was rare instead of well done and without chips so we told the nice waiter to cook it more and by miracle the steak came back and it was obvious it had been in the microwave! we asked for the manager, she was so rude! she basically told me I was a lyer and we did not order the wedges and they don't own a microwave in the kitchen.I certainly won't go back there!

It's untrue to say there's often fighting these days although this has been more true in the past it's unfair to perpetuate the pubs currently undeserved reputation as a rough house. It's true that fools are not suffered gladly but generally the regulars are very friendly and hail not just from the close-knit Warner's End, Chaulden & Gadebridge communities but from all corners of the town & indeed district. The Bouncy Castle has long since gone, kids, rude or otherwise, are no longer particularly welcome or provided for, and food at the moment seems to be too much trouble however the Pub closes in january for 2 months for significant restructuring including improved restaurant facilities, perhaps the snobs will be able to re-evaluate
