The Chairman left this review about The Old Cock Inn

Popped in while waiting for a bus at the stop right outside(a very convenient location!) for a first ever visit on a Wednesday lunchtime. This is a pub with a smart and comfortable interior, with sofas and armchairs as well as the standard tables and chairs more suitable for dining. There are 4 handpumps, and 3 ales were on sale: St Austell Tribute and Brewpoint Origin and DNA. The Origin was a reasonable pint but didn't encourage me to miss my bus and have a second.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Cock Inn

This solid and attractive old inn is located towards the north end of Harpenden High Street. Inside, the low ceilings give a further indication of age but the room layout has been opened out at some stage and refurbished. Although this is a food-orientated establishment, the decor isn't over fussy and the bar area is well-enough lit not to need the candles on the dining tables. There are four real ales on handpump - Wells Eagle IPA, Bombardier, Youngs Special (£3.10) and Elgoods Feelgood Festive - with the first three suggesting a Charles Wells house (although there is no sign of brewery branding). Overall, a pretty reasonable sort of place, but I'll give it an extra point because of the very friendly attitude of the lady behind the bar which genuinely made one feel welcome.

Steve of N21 left this review about Old Cock Cabin

Now Called The Old Cock Inn.
Nice open pub which you enter from either end. The main bar area is laid out more like a restaurant section with candlelit tables. Then off to the side is a couple of more relaxed seating sections with lounge type furniture. Decent food menu with good selection of snacks, starters and mains. The mains are around £8.00 and the one I had was value for this. Three real ales on during my visit, Black Sheep Best, Deuchars IPA and St Austell’s Tribute. Only tried the Tribute and it was excellent. And the lady behind the bar (who I presume was the Landlady) could not have been more helpful. So if you are after decent beer and decent bar food then I can’t fault this pub
My only problem was sitting on my own at a table for two with a tall candle burning away, I must have looked like NobbyNoMates whose date had stood him up…
