The best part of this small Greene King pub is the paved front terrace with box hedging, modern garden furniture and canopies. The entrance itself is housed in a single story extension to what is a very old building, but there are no internal traces of the original structure. However the ceilings are low, there are several sections to the left including a seperate restaurant area through a wooden doorway.Central pillars restrict access to the bar,no bad thing as only GK real ales are available,Abbott,IPA and Old Golden Hen(£3.60, undistinguished).
The wooden floored interior has some classy furniture but there is no getting away from the chain vibe, although the rear section around the bar does appear more of a drinking spot with some board games piled up on a window ledge.Wednesday is quiz night.
Food is an important draw from a corporate menu, sandwiches £5,light bites £7-£8,all mains less than £10 save the steaks. My club sandwich was mainly bread with only the meerest hint of chicken and bacon.
Although a bit dull,a nice pub shame about the beer.

Very quiet on my visit and I don't imagine it generates a lot of atmosphere even when busier. It's set back from the main road partly behind a hedge and they don't do themselves any favours having the pub sign mostly concealed by foliage either. Greene King pub with only GK IPA on, served too warm in my opinion. Not really one to bother with.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Inn On The Green

Reasonable looking pub overlooking (obviously, given the name) one of the greens at the north end of Harpenden Common. Much smaller than I expected inside, but there is a large beer garden plus more outdoor seating at the front. Three handpumps (two with IPA clips, the other unusued) plus one of the fancy new metal fonts dispensing (you've guessed it) IPA - that's Greene King's idea of choice, I guess...
