Very chainey feel to the place - catering for standard pub dining.

Large bar - plenty of staff on. Nice patio out the front.

McMullens Country was in very, very good condition - so can't complain about the cellarmanship.

One of the many McMullen houses that are prevalent in this part of Hertfordshire and not to be confused with the Bulls Head, a very similar McMullen offering in Turnford not that far down the road.
Internally its two rooms each with their own section of the bar. The right hand room has a proper bar feel with a vertical drinking area in front of the bar and tables and chairs through the rest all with a view of the large tele screen mounted on the separating wall usually muted with some sports channel being shown.
The left hand section is much larger but the majority of the space beyond the serving area is laid out as the restaurant section, but there is a couple of tables to the front of the bar just for drinking that also has a flat screen tele on its side of the separating wall.
Never eaten in here, but it’s a fairly standard reasonably priced pub grub menu. However have been in here a few times for a drink, especially in summer when the pleasant exterior garden or small sun trap terrace area to the front can be utilised. Unfortunately the beer choice is not great and there has only ever been Country and AK on the real ale hand pumps. But back in on Saturday and they now have the McMullen Rivertown Pale Ale on the chrome pumps, so at least there is another choice with something from the McMullen's in-house micro kit.
It does a reasonably decent job of providing a pub cum restaurant for the locals of Broxbourne, especially as they have precious little of either in the nearby vicinity but it’s not a pub to go out of your way for.
