This is a former Allied Breweries pub. It is something of and old school pub well described below. For me it wasn't that exceptional at all, it is genuinely old but there must be hundreds of pubs similar to this in Southern England.
The beers on offer were Tring Side Pocket For A Toad, Tring Ridgeway Bitter, Adnam's Ghost Ship and London Pride. This seems to be an improving line up on previous years from the reviews below.
I went for the Ridgeway Bitter (£3.55) which was in excellent condition.
It's a decent enough pub that is GBG 2015 listed but it's not in the same league as the Rising Sun on the other side of town.

Good review from trainman,I also enjoyed a well kept Tring Ridgeway.Other ale on during my visit was GK IPA,London Pride and Adnam's Bitter.There are some interesting old photos of Berko pubs near the real fire ,and the low ceiling ,traditional bench seating and unspoilt interior makes this pub a pleasure to drink in.Well cooked pub grub is now served Mon-Fri noon to 3pm,with daily specials and prices are reasonable.Sky sports is shown on a large plasma in the bar end of the pub ,and on a small screen at the other end.Thoroughly deserving it's GBG entry ,only a short stroll from the towpath moorings on the Grand Union.Along with the Rising Sun,a must visit in this attractive town.

Adnams Bitter, gkipa, London Pride (reversed badge) and the splendid Tring Ridgeway. Carpeted in beige tartan, separate door to ‘public bar’ but interior is open space wrapping around the bar serving longish space, like a wide ‘U’. Public end has a fine old photo of the 31st East Anglian Divisional Signal Royal Engineers, and an admirable trophy for the Lamb Golf Society, in the form of a mounted wood, there is a dartboard though tables would need to be moved. Lounge end has a wood stove and logs stacked against the wall, from here a stained glass door leads to the paved outdoor patio with round picnic sets, some with umbrellas and one of the party spotted a water feature with coy carp! Opposite the central bar is a drinking shelf with 4 barstools under the window. I liked it, and the Ridgeway in perfect condition was a very good start to the day’s crawl.

A no nonsense old school boozer, low ceilinged, bench seating and well decorated with old photos of the town. Unobtrusive background music allows conversation. A nice locals pub that I'd be glad to have nearby. Four real ales, Adnams, GK IPA, Pride and Ridgeway Bitter from the local Tring Brewery.
