There is a good pub here trying to escape from a general lack of care. The outside is attractive, leaded windows and unusually there is a seperate pool room with it's own door onto the front porch to the left.Turn right to the public bar with two flatscreens, one for racing, lots of bar stools for regulars ,while there is a large rear lounge with a small raised section to one side (former small stage ?) .There is attractve wood panelling throughout although probably post war but some horrible MDF repairs around the bar for the lounge.
A further flatscreen at the back will screen sports, while the exterior coutyard is a dirty mess with a van blocking the way.The Irish barman retires shortly so dont know if events such as Danny's Disco will continue but it all feels downbeat and unloved. It's populated by punters who only want cheap drinks.
Three unused handpumps, keg dross with the best option keg Doom Bar ,quickly supped and forgotten. In an attractive location near the church but someone with energy needs to save this place from further decline before it's too late.

An unmodernised locals' pub with some splendid 1930's wooden panelling on walls and ceiling, but sadly all a bit run down - the sagging floor by the gents can't be a good sign. Most of the punters were in the front room, with a larger room and outdoor yard behind and a side room with pool table. The biggest disappointment was the bank of three handpumps which were purely decorative, not even being connected to pipework, leaving keg Doom Bar as the least worst option. A bit of money and a sensitive restoration could produce a classic pub, but I fear eventual closure is probably more likely.

A Punch Taverns owned pub tucked away on Sun Street away from the main shops. Two bar pub with a comfortable front bar and then a back bar with pool table, games machines and juke box.
Friendly welcome from the landlord and appeared to be a bit of a locals pub for the horse racing if what was showing on the available screens was anything to go by. Two pumps on the bar which were dispensing St Austell Tribute and Deuchars IPA and the IPA was a well-kept pint.
Not a destination pub by any description, but has the advantage when in Baldock of being a hostelry not owned by Green King.
